Regular Season and League Playoff - how to create the competition?

Danny 12 months ago in Competition updated 12 months ago 3

Hello,

I read all the topics in the knowledge base but I still have problems with creating a competition (national league!) with a regular season and two playoffs (upper and lower), just like it is played in Belgium or Austria.

An example (Austrian Bundesliga): There are 12 teams playing a regular season in 22 rounds. So far so easy.

Then the teams 1 - 6 play a champions playoff (10 rounds) and the teams 7 - 12 play a relegation playoff (also 10 rounds)

And in the end the season is ended by a game of the 5th against the 7th (two legs) for the last European spot.

How can I create such a competition? I tried for hours now and just don't find the correct logic...

Thanks so much in advance for your help!

Hello

Let's start to do it step by step.

1) Create Main Stage - Regular Season

2) Secondary - Championship round

3) Secondary - relegation Round

4) Secondary - knockout - Conference League play-off with two rounds (Semi-final & Final)

5) If you are using API Import - map rounds and stages

6) Check if the plugin recognized groups correctly.

7) Create and update finished games.

Now it's time to create Standing tables.

8) Standing table - Regular Season

Add colors and notes.

9) Standing Table - Championship round

Create a table like in step 8.

Add initial Standing data (see screenshot)

From - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022%E2%80%9323_Austrian_Football_Bundesliga

The points obtained during the regular season were halved (and rounded down) before the start of the playoff. As a result, the teams started with the following points before the playoff: Red Bull Salzburg 27, Sturm Graz 24, LASK 19, Austria Wien 16, Rapid Wien 16, and Austria Klagenfurt 15.

Fix the points manually

10) Standing Table - Relegation round

It is very similar to the previous step

The points obtained during the regular season were halved (and rounded down) before the start of the playoff. As a result, the teams started with the following points before the playoff: Tirol 14, Lustenau 13, Wolfsberg 10, Hartberg 9, Ried 9, and Rheindorf Altach 8.
