How To Create Competition With Multiple Stages (v1)

Let's create a competition with a complex structure like a Champions League (without qualifying round).

>> Play-off round (20 teams) -- Multistage Main

>>>> Group Stage (32 teams in 8 groups) -- Multistage Secondary

>>>> Knockout phase (16 teams) -- Multistage Secondary

Play-off round - [MAIN STAGE]

Go to Competition >> Add new competition. In Multistage dropdown select Multistage Main. The FIRST STAGE always must be the MAIN STAGE.

Type competition name in the page title and stage name in the Stage title field.

Also, set a stage order to 1.

Then create 5 pairs and assign clubs to them. Save the Competition.

!! Recommended to set a competition logo in the Display Options metabox.

Group Stage - [SECONDARY STAGE]

Go to Competition >> Add new competition.

In Multistage dropdown select Multistage Secondary.

Type competition name in the page title and round (or stage) name in the Stage title field.

Set Stage Order and select Main Stage ID (which you have created on the previous step).

Then create 8 groups and assign clubs to them.

Knockout phase - [SECONDARY STAGE]

Go to Competition >> Add new competition.

In Multistage dropdown select Multistage Secondary.

Type competition name in the page title and round (or stage) name in the Stage title field.

Set Stage Order and select Main Stage ID (which you have created on the previous step).

Then create rounds and assign clubs.

CHECK RESULT

Go to the Competition list and check that everything is alright.

TIPS

If you forget to set Multistage Main in Multistage Secondary, you can use Stage Secondary filter to find competition and fix the error.

How can we create Uefa champions league by API import? we have a problem with create clubs, we have to create all European countries club by API import?

1) Create clubs

API import has the option to create clubs. Look in "World" as a country.

Hi,

I have created the main multiphase

and the tournament was held for the group stage.

Now I have created the secondary Stage, but when I connect it to the primary round it does not allow me to publish, but it always remains in review. I use the Ultimate member plugin.

Hello Question,

Is there an automatic or better wait of conducting a playoffs? It seems to me that I would have to manually enter each team for each round (Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Final). Is there a way I can enter the scores for the Quarter Finals and then Semi finals would be drafted up automatically without me having to manually drag teams to each round?
